Network Data Model to Transport Network Analysis Through Geographical Information System Techniques A Case Study of English Bazar Municipality (Malda), West Bengal in India
Public transport plays a critical role in the sustainability of urban settings. The mass mobility and quality of urban lives can be improved by establishing public transport networks that are accessible to pedestrians within a reasonable walking distance [1]. Developed and suitable transportation network in urban areas is just like blood flow through veins of the human body. A transport network (Look on as a graph), which can be developed using such indicators like directness, complexity, connectivity and coverage, based on the relationships between elements of network such as relationships between links and nodes. This present paper focuses on examining the basic elements of road transport network analysis, i.e. accessibility, centrality, and connectivity. English Bazar Municipality in Malda district has been taken as the study area. This paper determined in transport density and frequency of English Bazar Municipality. The ARC-GIS software was used to complete the process geo-referencing, digitization of transport layer, final transport network map, transport density, and frequency map were generated. The transport network map of English Bazar Municipality has prepared from English Bazar Municipality map in 2007, and Route map of English Bazar Municipality in 2016 has prepared from Google Earth image using ARC-GIS 9.3 software. The result reveals that English Bazar Municipality is having dense network road and facing the problems of traffic congestion, parking, etc. The result revealed that 78th number node is more accessible. Transport density in English Bazar Municipality have continuously increased from 0-2.25 km/sq km in 2007 to 1.5 to 3.1 km/sq km in 2016 and Transport frequency in English Bazar Municipality have continuously increased from 0-5 per sq km in 2007 to 2-8 per sq km in 2016.
